Set Playlist To Automatic In VLC

VLC is a powerful open-source media-player. Sometimes the options in the menu are "obscure".

The VLC installations I have done in the past would automatically proceed to the next item in the playlist in alphabetical order. This made it easy to "binge watch" a series or any list of similarly named files that might exist in a specific folder.

A recent installation that came with a Zorin distribution did not do this. After doing a "Brave" search, here is how I persuaded VLC to proceed through the list automatically:

  * Tools->Preferences" from the "Show settings" radio button set
  * Check "All" radio button in the "Show settings" group
  * Select "Playlist" from the list on the left ... Check the following:
  ### Auto Start
  ### Pause on audio communication
  ### Use only one instance when started from file manager
  ### Automatically preparse items
  ### Allow metadata network access
