Nevertheless I thought I would mention briefly how proud some of us Aussies are of our new geeky Mandarin-speaking prime minister. So I'd just like to offer my congratulations to our PM. Well done! Many of us heartily approve of the great job you're doing of representing us on the World Stage, despite the fact that you are a politician, and you bear a disturbing resemblance to Bill Gates. So, keep up the good work Mr. Rudd! |

Now back to the great MS Yahoo Saga, which this week took some interesting twists and turns and then a few more twists.
At the start of this week it seemed that Yahoo had accepted the inevitable. On the weekend of the 5th of April, it had been reported that Steve (Darth) Ballmer had written a letter to Yahoo, informing them that his patience was running thin and effectively threatening to crush them mercilessly, if they did not agree to The Empire's very generous terms.
No doubt trembling at the prospect of Imperial Troops arriving at his far-flung province of Yahoo, Jerry Yang responded with a placatory plea that he had no objections whatever to be taken over by the Empire! He even welcomed it, in fact, and furthermore looked forward to the prospect of joining forces and working with them! But no sooner had these mewling phrases left his lips, then it transpired that he had all the time been engaged in secret negotiations with the Empire's arch-foe, Google. And most surprising of all was the revelation that the Jedi Forces at Google may have been contemplating his offer of a triumvirate pact with the wayward province of Yahoo and the Darker Side of the Force still gathered at Time-Warner!
But knowing those sly Jedi, as we do, we have to wonder -- are they playing their own game of subterfuge?
Now at the risk of carrying the Star Wars analogy too far, we explore a shocking new (breaking) development.
The biggest surprise of all was the revelation that Lord (Darth) Ballmer had been engaged in secret negotiations of his own. Of course, he had always intended to mercilessly crush the unruly province of Yahoo (which is not the surprising part - it's exactly what one would expect from Darth Ballmer). However at the same time all these other secret plans were being prepared by various protagonists, he (Ballmer) had been negotiating with the Sith Dark Lord himself ... Emperor Murdoch! (the same Murdoch who had previously lead us all to believe that he might rescue Yahoo).
(Dumb, Dumb, Dumb Dumb-Dah Dumb, Dumb Dah-Dumb)
Ok, I admit it. I have pushed the Star Wars metaphor too far. But dear reader if you are at all familiar with Ballmer, Murdoch and the Star Wars series you surely must (even grudgingly) admit that the roles of Vada and Emperor seem tailor made for Ballmer and Murdoch, who both display an uncanny resemblance to their on-screen characters. Those of you not familiar with them won't understand a word of this, and have no doubt already departed to read another blog.
So are you confused dear reader? Well we all are.
One thing for sure ... This Microsoft Yahoo Wedding has created some strange bedfellows. (Now I'm mixing my metaphors -- time to call it quits).
